Groom your dog from home

Here’s some tips for grooming your dogs, at home.

Smooth Coat – Very short, coat lies flat to the skin and easy to maintain.
Examples of this coat type include Greyhounds, Pointers, Bulldogs and Dalmatians.

(Recommended groom-Bath, brush and de-shed when required)

Curly Coat – Thick and curly and has a lot of volume. Groom daily, as matts easily and grows quite quickly.
Examples of this coat type include Bichon Frise, Poodles, Labradoodle and Irish Water Spaniels.

(recommended groom-Full groom every 6-8weeks)

Long Coat – High maintenance and should be brushed at least 3 times a week, if not daily.
Examples of this coat type include Old English Sheepdogs, Shih Tzus, Maletse and Afghan Hounds.

(recommended groom-Full groom every 6-8weeks)

Short coat – This type of coat has two layers of short coats. This coat can hold more water and scent, making it harder to dry and can become smellier.
Examples of this coat type include Pugs, Labradors and Beagles.

(Recommended groom-bath, brush and de-shed when required)

Wire coat – Wire coats are course and not supposed to be soft and silky, like the coats of most other dogs.
Examples of this coat type include Westies, Schnauzers, Border Terriers and Kerry Blues.

(recommended groom-Full Groom

Combination Coat – Has areas of a longer coat and a shorter coat. Grooming is aimed more at the longer areas.
Examples of this coat type include Cocker Spaniels and Golden Retrievers.

(recommended groom-Full groom every 6-8weeks)

Double Coat – Warm, soft and thick undercoat requires more grooming. Top coat is longer and more harsh, meaning water easily runs off. Examples of this coat type include German Shepherds, Huskies, Akitas, Golden Retrievers and Samoyed.

Puppy Coat – A puppy’s coat needs gentle cleansing which will not strip the coat and skin of essential natural oils
